10 Years United by Hope

The Asociación Cáncer de Páncreas (ACANPAN), in collaboration with Spanish  Assotiation of Pancreatology (AESPANC) and the Spanish Association of Gastroenterology (AEG), is proud to announce the winners of the 10th edition of the Carmen Delgado / Miguel Pérez-Mateo Pancreatic Cancer Research Grants.

This milestone edition marks a decade of collective commitment and scientific drive—ten years united by hope, working towards better diagnostics, treatments, and survival outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients.

These grants are among the most significant private funding initiatives for pancreatic cancer research in Spain, each endowed with €100,000. They aim to support transformative clinical and basic research projects that contribute to earlier detection, more effective therapies, and ultimately, improved life expectancy for patients diagnosed with one of the deadliest cancer types.

After a rigorous evaluation process conducted by an expert panel of clinicians and researchers in the field of pancreatology, two outstanding projects have been selected:

Basic Research Grant
José Yélamos López, immunologist – Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM), Barcelona
Project: Harnessing the immunomodulatory functions of PARP-2 to fight pancreatic cancer

Clinical Research Grant
Leticia Moreira Ruiz, gastroenterologist – Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona / IDIBAPS / Hospital Clínic de Barcelona
Project: PREVENPANC: A Spanish Multicenter Study for the Prevention of Pancreatic Cancer

This year, the call attracted 33 applications (20 in basic research and 13 in clinical research), reflecting the growing interest and commitment of the scientific community to advancing pancreatic cancer research.

These grants are made possible thanks to the incredible support of hundreds of participants in La Carrera de las Ciudades contra el Cáncer de Páncreas (The City Race Against Pancreatic Cancer), as well as the generosity of donors and solidarity initiatives that power this shared movement of hope.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the winners, and sincere thanks to all applicants. Your dedication drives progress. Thank you for walking with us through a decade of science, memory, and hope.
